Here is a happy customer! Look at his lovely new shoes, circa 1970's. He is a fun local artist (yes, there still are a few here in the east village, thank god for rent stabilization), and stuntman!

This is one of my favorite people in the East Village, his name is George and he is full of great stories. He lives on Dusty's street, and almost everyday he stops and sits outside to chit chat. I pay him with my homemade cookies for his tales. Someone should write a story about George. If you ever have any questions about art, paint, war, the East Village old days, or just have a great joke you want to share, take a walk down East 9th and look for George!
I look forward to seeing him each day!

Here is a lovely dress from the 1950's, with beautiful beaded butterflies. It is from an estate of twin sisters who were in their mid 90's and had two of everything!

These are our tiny store mascots. They are always in the store window, a different place with each new window display. Look for them when you pass by.

Giant Pee Wee was in the window for a few days, but now he has a new home! A lovely girl came in and bought him for a gift. I think he will be well loved. We have one little bobble head Mr Herman if anyone is in need of a little Pee Wee.

New Old Stock Justin Boots

These are some new old stock Justin boots, Made In USA! They are so beautiful and comfy. We only have a few sizes left, hurry ladies!!
We also have new Sergio Tomani boots, they are an eco-friendly company amazingly comfortable. And we have loads of vintage shoes and boots.

Snow in the city.....

This morning on NPR, Lori Gottlieb was speaking of her book -Marry Him- The case for settling for Mr. Good Enough, and as I ate my toast a little sadness come over me. I got to thinking of love, is it that hard to find? Settle? No! I had been married before and it was a disaster, I can't imagine what my life would be like today if I had stayed. I never had a huge desire to be married, just a desire to be with someone who was my lover and my buddy. Sounds simple I know but that was my wish.
After a few weeks of drinking much wine with girlfriends mending my heart, I read the silly book The Secret and thought I would give it a go in my garden. I had been building two new gardens as part of my healing process and they were looking lovely. So I went out in the garden and began speaking to it, with each chore in the garden my whispers came. Sounds a touch adolescent yes, but that is where I was. And I believe the positive energy i planted and spoke of in my garden grew and grew.
A few days later i met the love of my life, a bit sooner than I would have liked, or maybe he was years late? The next day he came over to see my garden, bent down and adored my hens and chickens (a plant) I knew instantly my whispers had been heard.......
Three years later he is my husband, but most importantly my lover, and my buddy! Not a day goes by that looking at him does not give me stars (butterflies)in my belly.
Not sure why I felt compelled to tell the interweb these thoughts, maybe it is the romantic promise of snow in NYC tonight.
If you have no lover to walk in the snow with tonight, go out alone, you never know what you might find...and whispering positive things hurts no one.

Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser, Julian McCullough, And Sean O'Connor's movie at Dusty Buttons

This was a fun night at Dusty Buttons, we had some wild boys, wine, and laughs. Julian McCullough is a fabulously funny comedian from the neighborhood. He and his sidekick Sean O'Connor shot a video with Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser. The video is a little on the dirty side, Dusty thinks so anyway, but funny. The boys were a hoot and Dusty drank too much wine that night!

Dusty Buttons is a vintage clothing store here in the east village. We have gal's and guy's vintage clothing and shoes. Dusty is thinking, though it is nice to have visits and stories from men once in a while, we might get rid of the boy things?? It is just that there are so many pretty dresses in the world, we need the room! But we will wait and see what spring brings for those boys......
